I think variable volume produces drama and movement. I am not sold on the idea that there can be too much complexity in volume.

On another note- I am hungry for the day when we don't have to dissect buildings in the way Cohen suggests. When do we get to present buildings in their entirety- so that all relationships between the brain, the heart and the lungs may show simultaneously?! I am tired of making 2D drawings of a project already modeled in multiple dimensions.

attend every lecture, symposium, and event; ask interesting questions-- or just ask questions!; take classes you want to take and don't worry about some crazy schedule that someone made for you or some preconceived notion of a life schedule; don't be afraid to wander into classes or professors' offices-- these people are here because they love their subject and they also like students too; engage your peers...and those in different studios from you; enter competitions locally thru YAF and AIA and also nationally such as Velux; get involved with the young professionals group around Atlanta: Emerging Green Builders (USGBC), YAF (AIA), Young Leaders (ULI); attend gallery openings and art strolls in the different neighborhoods in atlanta; check out our awesome music school!; take classes in subjects outside the college that interest you-- sociology, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, materials, textiles, music, acoustics, international affairs, shakespeare

basically what i am saying is that there is TON of stuff available...opportunities like solar decathlon, borneo, etc., come around rarely so POUNCE on them if you have a chance...! also...don't worry so much...part of undergrad is enjoying yourself...leave the hard nose-to-the-grindstone for the working world or grad school....
